TripAdvisor Stops Selling Tickets to Animal-Abusive Places

One of the world’s biggest travel sites TripAdvisor is rocking the animal welfare world while making us reconsider our holiday choices! Attractions such as swimming with dolphins, riding an elephant or petting a baby tiger may sound fun, but they are abusive to animals. Therefore, the company won’t be letting their customers book tickets to places that involve captive animals or edangered species- stopping the cruelty against animals, one trip at a time.

“TripAdvisor’s new booking policy and education effort is designed as a means to do our part in helping improve the health and safety standards of animals, especially in markets with limited regulatory protections, “Stephen Kaufer, president and CEO of TripAdvisor said in a press release. At the same time, TripAdvisor also aims to celebrate destinations and attractions that are pioneers in animal welfare.
TripAdvisor promises to adjust its booking policy completely by 2017, with some changes taking effect immediately. TripAdvisor and its partner booking agency Viator, are also launching an educational campaign, aiming to spread information about animal welfare and how it relates to some of the attractions on the site. By early 2017, users will find paw-shaped icon next to animal attractions, with information from animal right groups such as PETA.
