What is it that you love about kids’ movies? Is it the dark tone, the eery suspense or the sudden shocks? None of the above? These kids neither. Having convinced their parents to take them to see the latest Pixar movie, they were expecting loveable characters, giggly scenarios and cuddly storylines.

But if you strip it down and add a haunting backstory, some scary music and a dash of plot thickener, you’ve got yourself Insidious: Chapter 3 – the latest horror movie in a string jumpy, terrifying and unexplained events. Consequently, it would be fair to say that the kids at this Ohio cinema got a bit of surprise. And needless to say, the parents weren’t too happy.

Some parents assumed it was simply a novel and attention-grabbing beginning to the movie. And who’s to blame them? After all, movie producers will do anything to make their films as entertaining and memorable as possible. However, after the first fright it was clear that this was the wrong movie.

The projectionist, who only ever reads the first five letters of any word or phase, had confused Insidious: Chapter 3 for Inside Out. The children were expecting laughs and instead got a horrible shock, making this particular screening memorable for all the wrong reasons.

Mandatory concerned parent Jazmyn Moore is having all sorts of problems since the incident. Her previously well-behaved children have started asking questions – a sure sign of defiance. She took took to Facebook to express her outrage. “I got our money back but the damage is already done…my children are terrified and keep asking questions.”

While this was clearly an innocent mistake, personally I’m outraged and think something should be done. I mean, won’t someone please think of the children!?
